Week 26Objective: Students will be motivated by the Rapture to live life with no regrets.
Key Thought: Live with no regret. Lesson Summary: Regrets: We have all done or said something we regret. We all wish we had the opportunity for a do-over so we would not have to deal with the resulting shame, embarrassment, depression, or guilt of not fully thinking through the consequences. Oftentimes we make pragmatic decisions without giving any thought as to how they might affect us in the future. During today’s lesson, the students were challenged to consider how they live their lives in light of the next big event on God’s calendar, the Rapture. The Rapture is the imminent snatching up of all believers, both living and dead, to meet the Lord Jesus in the air and return with Him to Heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58). As a means of making this truth relevant and practical for their lives, here are some questions students were given to ask themselves as they make daily decisions.
Obviously, all of us need to consider the implications of these questions in our daily decisions. At the end of the lesson, students were challenged to change the picture on their phone, tablet, or computer home screen to a picture that reminds them of the Rapture. The purpose of this change was to help keep the Rapture in their mind, so they would make their choices in light of this future event. Perhaps you could also change the picture on your device and begin reminding yourself to make choices in light of the return of Jesus. Parent Challenge: We live in difficult and uncertain times. It is important that students understands God's promises about such times. Talk with your child about God's promise to never leave us nor forsake us. Also, consider listening to the podcast "It's Worth Considering." It follows the student Quiet Time devotional. It’s Worth Considering: A podcast that follows the Quiet-Time devotional (Wk 26).
